Our daughter Tomiris is our first child, and both grandmothers have been preparing the cord for months — one wove it from white wool, the other from black. Karaganda is not on many tourist routes, which is exactly why we'd love to show you our city.

About this tradition
Тұсау кесу
Tusau kesu celebrates a child's first independent steps, usually around their first birthday. Cutting the cord that loosely ties the child's legs symbolises freeing them to walk confidently through life.
